Finland is a base for global pharmaceutical production, research & development and worldwide clinical trials. In Finland, Bayer employs roughly 1000 people, located in Espoo and Turku. Our production facility in Turku is part of Bayer's global pharmaceutical manufacturing organization, where we focus on the production and distribution of polymer-based drug delivery systems.
We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated professional for HSE and Facility Operation Lead position in the production site in Turku. In this role, you will lead health, safety and environmental activities of the site and ensure facility management activities. You will also assess risks and design strategies to reduce potential hazards while maintaining a clean, safe and productive workplace. Additionally, you will coordinate site protection, respond to emergencies and site security.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure that the site and teams comply with Finnish laws and regulations, as well as Bayer guidelines on Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)
• Play a key role in developing the site’s safety culture and strengthening HSE ownership across the organization, working closely with line management to embed HSE into daily operations
• Lead a team of around 15 to 20 professionals, contributing significantly to building the team's skills and promoting collaboration throughout the site
• Are in charge of all personnel-related topics, including planning, organization and performance management
• Support ongoing and upcoming investment and construction activities, ensuring HSE standards are integrated into all phases of site development
• Own ISO 14001, 45001 and 50001 certification processes locally
• Collaborate closely with Bayer’s global HSE network and other pharma sites, contributing to the development of best practices across the organization
• Oversee development activities within HSE and facility management at the site
• Implement and improve work processes, procedures and technical resources to drive efficiency
• Guarantee compliance with legally required equipment inspections ensuring all operations meet regulatory standards
WHO YOU ARE
• Hold a university degree (Master’s or Bachelor’s) in Engineering or Construction Engineering
• Have a minimum of 5–8 years of managerial experience with proven track record in industrial and/or construction environment preferably in HSE and facility management related role
• Communicate fluently in both Finnish and English (written and spoken) with our internal and external stakeholders
• Possess solid knowledge of regulatory requirements, and knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) is preferred
• Proactive approach with strong analytical skills and a knack for problem-solving
• Familiar with IT tools and applications relevant to facility management
• The selected person will be subject to a concise security clearance vetting (Security Clearance Act 726/2014)
